[attr="class","bodytxtt"] He hates it here. Hoenn as a whole? undoubtably, but route 113 in particular was the worst place this godforsaken land had to offer. While it was warm it was a 'muggy' warm the island's already tropical climate made the added heat particularly uncomfortable and that was all without mentioning the monster that was Mt. Chimney hovering over the route like a skarmory or a mandibuzz circling its prey enternally. There were times recent ones even that he hoped the volcano would consume this land and perhaps in another life one where he truly had nothing better to do he'd have actualized it. Instead of an eruption, however, all the mountain ever seemed to do was let loose an endless amount of soot on the route. Indeed Route 113 left as bad a taste in his mouth metaphorically as it did literally.

Still, opportunity oft came in odd ways and perhaps odd places. And so here Aureo found himself annoyed but composed nonetheless. His agenda today was a date with what could be a potential client. Word was a rocket agent with more than a fair share of funds was looking for something or another and to get that something or another a good amount of money was involved. It was a venture interesting enough to look into especially seeing as all else he had going on currently was doing little especially in way of returning to Kanto. Thus he reached out to the stranger and quickly enough he got a reply to meet them here in the boonies. If nothing else the route served well when it came to protecting one's interests. If things went south a body would bury itself within a day maybe two.

Or rather his body would bury itself within a day or two. The thought is a reminder to stay vigilant and prudent as he waits.

she hung back, lurking in the shadows to see what sort of person dared to accept her invite. Sidonie did not need to worry about being overpowered - her Aegislash covered behind her like a steel shadow. the sword stance a default one that she enjoyed more than a shield. when she seemed satisfied with the other's presence, she would approach leisurely. both hands shoved into her lab coat.

if the man got violent or discontinued being agreeable, she would slice him open with the scalpel she carried in one pocket. something she could do with little effort at this point. stopping a few paces away, she'd tilt her head slightly as if regarding. Aegislash hovered to her side now, staring at the unknown human. "are you here for the work?" she asked him bluntly.

she did not need to beat around a bush for this. convenient body disposal site aside, Sidonie did have need of someone to do some heavy lifting.

"Oh?"

A silver pupil follows the woman clad in white as she makes herself known amidst the endless ash. A scientist? or perhaps a doctor judging by her choice in apparel. His middle finger moves to the bridge of his glasses careful to prevent ash or dirt from muddying the shades as he realigns them. He chooses to remain silent focused on her mannerisms as the woman steps closer stopping only paces away from him.

In her appearance in the way she moves even in her gaze, there's a sharpness to her not unlike a blade. Beautiful certainly but to be handled with extreme caution if to be handled at all. Almost on cue with the metaphor an Aegislash purposefully unsheathed would make its way to her side ready to guide its edge across his chest and cut through skin that might as well have been paper-thin to the creature. The man in response pulls a hand out of his pocket slowly making sure not to jerk keeping the appendage at his side palm open. A signal to keep his own line of defense somewhere in the shadows at bay. With this, the 'posturing' began an annoying part of the process, but one of import especially in this line of work.

"Are you here for the work?"

"No, I just like rolling around in soot."

He exchanges the acerbic response for something neutral,
"That depends entirely on the kind of work."

A lie. Everything had a price and the already slim list of tasks Aureo wouldn't do for an appropriate amount of money only sunk with the passing days.

"And the number attached, of course." Better now, a half-lie.

Before the conversation could continue a flash from behind the homeless foreigner followed by crackling thunder in the sea of soot prompts the man to move away from the woman his senses focused entirely on her vanguard now.

" Forgive me for asking..." His hand falls to his waist revealing a black Pokeball outlined in yellow. "But I don't suppose that was your doing." His voice manages to maintain a level of evenness despite what could come next.

Only 30 or so feet away obscured by trees and soot A Klang aggrieved by an intrusion on its home fought a losing fight against a familiar scizor. The sound of steel clashing resounded in the woods, but Aureo's focus remained solely on the two in front of him. While he lacks hostility the distrust in the bespectacled man's movements was apparent.

The awfulness of the route never ceases to amaze.

he thought by revealing nothing he could just walk away if he didn't like what he heard. and she would reveal nothing in the open. at least not the gritty details. too many League folk around. they were populating like rats. "the sort of work that depends entirely on your stomach" she replied breezily. it should be enough to tell him that it was not easy, nor for the faint of heart.

"and pays handsomely - depending on the job done right" and without arousing suspicion. but that was a given. she would not bail him out if he happened to get captured. the man would be on his own. she would not risk her neck for a stranger. "and no - t'was not us." a brief shake of her head at his inquiry, having not even flinched at the rumble.

her dark eyes roll to the origin, having little interest in investigating. for now, the one in front of her was her toy. she would not abandon him so easily to go look.

The man isn't shaken he's simply prone to caution. "I see."

The blade at her side doesn't flinch at the antics keeping a certain stillness about itself. It was respectable, a reminder of how much he appreciated the kalossian species. Because the two opposed remain so still it's easier to believe they aren't behind the distraction. There had been no better opportunity to attack, apprehend or simply kill the man then at that moment. Thus his guard relaxes for the moment at least his hand falling from his waist and back into his jacket pocket. "You don't seem like one to make a mess of things, or at least not without reason."

Steel slams and another dull klang resounds through the woods. Any remaining flying types scattered from their treetop homes with the fight's end. "And how can I trust you'll pull through on this alluring payment when I've yet to receive even a name, Ms? or is it Dr."

On what felt like cue the mantis pokemon would appear from the brush tossing an unconscious gear pokemon at the foot of its trainer. "My associate seems to have dealt with the problem, I apologize for my doubt, but one can never be too certain in times like these. Surely you understand."

His gaze falls from the woman down to the source of his latest annoyance before sliding an empty Pokeball from his waist.

It was the fastest way to prove the pokemon was ownerless. If the pokeball bounced away and rejected the Klang it'd show ownership, perhaps not of her but of someone which would be problematic. When the ball accepts the pokemon and begins to rattle the rocket's attention shifted back to his possible client once again.

"Roman, a pleasure."

"I do not appreciate senseless actions" Sidonie remarked, her usual deadpan expression giving nothing away. why make a 'mess' when you could pay someone else to make a mess for you? her hands would remain clean, able to continue about their merry way, while another rotted in a cell somewhere.

As the Pokeball sounds with a dull ding of finality he'd reach for the orb. "Hmm? Perhaps you should." a sliver of amusement in his voice. "Far be it from me to tell you how to conduct your business Sidonie." Standing tall now he'd tilt his head slightly a short nod of affirmation. Despite the odd interference things seemed to be moving smoothly enough now. All the while, with his free hand the rocket slid the orb onto his belt. He had no plans for his unexpected capture but the silver-haired man was nothing if not resourceful and this resource, like all the rest, would have its use sooner than later.

Before moving the man would reach for a different Pokeball releasing an Escavalier from its unit. "Eliminate any nuisances along the path. Report back every fifteen minutes." He'd wait for a confirmation before dismissing both pokemon into the brush. "A service I offer, pro bono of course." With that Roman would begin taking steps to catch up with the client. He had his questions as any man would. 'What exactly did the woman need so far away from society?' Fallarbor was undoubtedly the town deepest in the boonies in all the region. Silently, Roman would recall the already short list of the town's attractions. Ages ago it used to be a mining town, but in recent years meteorite research took place due to the discoveries in the falls nearby, though with the chaos of rocket among other issues Hoenn faced as of late who knew if the research had continued.

Realizing the air had gone somewhat stale in his silence he attempts to break it, she doesn't seem like one who'd appreciate small talk and truthfully neither was he, but seeming too eager about the work would speak badly of him especially when she agreed to reveal the nature of the work soon. And so he avoids the topic choosing to satiate another minor curiosity instead.

"Would it be too presumptuous of me to assume you aren't exactly 'native' to the area." Never could the man just speak plainly, one of Roman's many irritating traits.

Notes: sent Scizor and Escavlier out to deal with the wild pokemon but really I wanted you to have the first pick if there was anything you wanted

the silence stretched, which was something the man seemed not to enjoy. he broke it easily enough, asking her where she was from. in a not so direct way. Sidonie could be smug, could be playful, yet in the end, she decided to not answer right away. something had captured her eye. a Magneton floating along the route all alone. somehow it had escaped Roman's Pokemon.

releasing another Pokemon into the fray, her Aegislash remained by her side. the Charmander scurried off to do battle at a command, making quick work of the Magneton due to its advantage. flamethrower shot toward the steel-electric type, burning it easily. the magnet couple turned on the lizard but the Charmander was too quick. biting down on softening metal, it'd make it faint using fire fang.

taking out a spare Pokeball, Sidonie would toss it at the creature. "I am foreign" she stated quietly, her eyes on the wobbling Pokeball. "yet it would not be fun if I just told you where I am from, now would it?"

It was surprising to see the Magneton appear before them as Strike rarely missed a target. Escavalier was more likely if only because the knight pokemon was a recent addition to his team. Regardless, Aureo was prepared to handle it drawing a pokeball from his pocket only for Sidonie to take the rein herself summoning a member of her own team. An embarrassing turn of events, but nothing he couldn't recover from. He notes her charmander and how quickly the magneton falls. The woman's team held some prowess once again forcing him to question what exactly it was she needed him for.

"I apologize but it seems this...scenario worked out in your favor." He slides his own pokeball back in his pocket eyes focused on the orb in which the Magneton rustled within. Only for a slam not unlike the ones early to resound throughout the wilderness shifting his focus. He'd ignore it for now continuing to walk, as the woman resumed their conversation. "Is that a challenge? I wasn't expecting a client to be so whimsical." a light chuckle escapes him as he scrutinizes the woman trying to place her features. A light attempt to discern her home.

"For the sake of transparency I doubt you would tell me even if I was right, but if you asked I'd say somewhere out west or south Further away from the Indigo lands. Maybe Orre or Unova possibly?"

Before he could continue the dull clashes interrupt and the reason the magneton had managed to sneak by was apparent. Strike was facing off against an opponent twice his size. An Aggron had taken the entirety of the steel type's focus. Ah. Judging by the bug pokemon's armor it seemed Strike had already made use of its Swords Dance twice over the steel exoskeleton protecting the bug having become much more jagged than it was typically. The Aggron seemed to be trying to trap its opponent with multiple uses of rock tomb seeing as the battlefield had massive piles of stones jutting across it now. Still, the fight seemed just at its end. Scizorwas worse for wear but the Aggron looked like it hadn't much left in him.

"Explains how your magneton got through if nothing else." The Scizor glances at his master recognizing the two had arrived but Aureo simply signals for the bug to finish the job.

And so he does.

Dashing through another rock tomb using a night slash to simply cut his way through the stones The Scizor would finish the rock type off by slamming his Head into the aggron's stomach causing the pokemon to collapse. Its boosted Iron Head was more than enough to finish the job. As the pokemon collapsed Aureo wasted no time throwing a pokeball at the steel type letting the orb drop and shake. Before turning back to his client.

"So was I close?" Scizor would appear at the trainer side for the moment now injured, but strong enough to hold his own.

Notes: Coming live from the mobile phone. Scizor was fighting aggron and we get the last act of the battle while Aureo throws a few guesses about where sidonie was from.
